A Whiter Shade of Pale

To me, Summer is a little white dress.

Wear it to the beach, in the city, at the park, playing in the woods. It's a classic staple that every girl MUST have. Beyond versatile, your LWD can go from day to night in one simple switch of jewelry and bag.

Dress it up

Or wear flats
Go barefoot

With a pop of color in your shoes, bag, accessories

Or ground it with masculine shoes
Be ethereal and fairy like

Or dress like your little sister

Each year I buy a new white dress to begin my summer. It's a four year old tradition; here is 2009.

Pretty Young Thing

Michael Jackson's music and style not only defined a decade and but has transcended time. He was an icon of a generation and will be greatly missed!

Anyway you want it, That's the way you need it

Cut off denim shorts are back and better than expected.

I am not a jeans girl. I never feel most comfortable by just throwing on a pair, it never looks as effortless as it's suppose to. Mostly I just don't feel like me. But as I've come to learn, jean shorts are whole other story.

As easy as a skirt, the perfect match for almost everything you want to wear in summer, you cannot go wrong.

Wear cuffed with a loose tank and gladiator sandals
Or a very distressed pair and wear with a sweet summer blouse
Shoes: Target, Shorts: Thrifted Citizens DIY, Blouse: Vintage, Fedora: streets of Soho, Bag: Elliott Lucca

Wear relaxed with a loose shirt and long charm necklaces, a cool vest is always a plus.
For a chic, more preppy look, throw on a blazer

Shoes: Target, Shorts: thrifted Citizens DIY, Tank: F21, Blazer: Armani Exchange, Jewelry/Scarf: Vintage and Grandma

White shorts are perfect for summer and can play down a more fancy shirt
T: F21, Shorts: Kensie Girl, Snake Gladiators: Steve Madden, Sunnies: Prada

Cut offs can even carry over to fall!

Enjoy some inspiration from the master <3

One of my most favorite images ever.

The tender way he's holding her hand, her gracefulness, his serene expression.

Till the Angels Hung Around

Sometimes I find pieces that I’ve been looking for but didn’t even realize it. When I first saw this silky white tunic it was being tried on by lovely gal turning this way and that way in front of the full length mirror. As I walked into the dressing room I whispered a silent wish that she would put it back. Sure enough she did and I grabbed it before they could put it back on the rack.

Needless to say I love it. It’s pretty and comfortable with a touch of edge. The accented side pockets and structured looseness feels like something I would wear in Tokyo.

I love having something so easily thrown on that translates from day to night. Yay for fashion karma bringing me what I didn't even know I needed!

Everybody’s Working for the Weekend

Weekend Wear is a funny thing.

On the one hand I want to be totally cute, feel downtown summer fresh, and wear the clothes I can’t wear to work. (too much effort for a lazy Sunday)

On the other hand I want to be comfortable, feel sporty relaxed, and just wear a cute tank over leggings. (wait, I’m not a soccer mom!)

The Result: A Go-To Weekend Outfit

A lovely skirt with a simple tank, embellished with your favorite jewelry and gladiator sandals to modernize.

You can wear this basic outfit in so many ways. With jean cut-offs, a looser tank, and a fedora for a more downtown look. With your favorite vintage blouse, ballet flats, and a headband for a pretty, preppy feel. It can go so many ways and yet always is the same formula. Easy tank/t-shirt and skirt/shorts, just changing with your accessories.

Comfortable, relaxed, and totally chic! It’s weekend wear at its finest!

June Gloom

Seeing as how this is only my second June in New York City I didn’t know at all what to expect. As far as I can tell, Spring here is quite fickle. Not your usual April showers bring May flowers. April seems to be rainy and chilly, May was a month full of surprises. With dry heat a random weekend then thunderstorms and many humid days, Weather On The One became my most trusted ally.

Now it’s June and I've been hoping for more consistent, warm weather. Five days in and I’m out of luck. Warm on Tuesday, humid on Wednesday, cool on Thursday, and rainy on Friday, this month has begun with a full range of seasons.

Luckily the grayish yet humid weather is perfect for sheer, lightweight, flowing tops. You can wear them with painted on white pants for a chic spring style or distressed jean shorts to rock Boho casual. I like to wear mine with loose yet tailored shorts for a menswear contrast. It’s nice juxtaposition of the feminine, billowing blouse against my tweed shorts. The gold gladiators are for day but at night I wear chunky brown platforms.

Love at First Sight

Everyone knows what I’m talking about. That moment, when after just a glance, you know you have to make them yours.

And so you do.

Aren’t they amazing? The cream and black snakeskin is perfect for day or night and matches pretty much everything since they’re neutral colors. The crossing straps feel aggressive and modern to me; they are sure to update any outfit. The best part is the thick platform and chunky heel, I feel like I can walk all over the city in these babies.

I like to wear them with a bright colored dress so they really pop!
